What is Njord? Well it's not as complex as people may think Njord is the god of the sea and trade. He is the father of Freyr and Freya he is said to bet he partner of the Germanic earth mother known as Nethurs. Was that so complex, no. Njord being the god of trade and wealth is a god that the closer to the sea one gets the better of a connection. The burning of incense and deep meditation is not necessarily the only way of connecting to the sea god. What I found is that if one lives their lives in a way that does not seem to cause harm the god will lead you on a path of fun. Yes, fun. Their is a joy to the master of the sea he will show you the beauty and power of the ocean. He will take you in isolation to beaches that are abandoned and only has steep rock faces. Or he will take you to beaches highly populated with family and friends abound. Now Njords personality is one of a god who has been traded to the Asir as a slave but due to his wisdom he becomes a valued part of the Asir. This means that he will grant a form of wisdom to people who are in need of it.

Njord is not a sea god who really demands some sort of sacrifice all offerings made to Njord are made by the follower on his or her own agenda. What this means is depending on how creative one is the more likely the god will accept it. Votive offerings are good and so is being appreciative of the journey that Njord will give you.
